Rappelling in Rio de Janeiro Brazil

Rappelling is a very safe activity, and can be done by anyone in good shape. It is the act of lowering oneself using a rope. It is actually considered a climbing technique instead of a sport. With the use of climbing ropes and safety gear, you will learn how to lower yourself  from a cliff, a mountain or even a bridge. The only thing you need is some amount of courage.

Rappelling in Pedra da Tartaruga

Just 40 minutes from Copacabana, on the west coast of Rio, we find the deserted beaches of Barra de Guaratiba. After hiking for one hour through a beautiful trail along the coast, we reach the imposing Pedra da Tartaruga, an awesome rock formation that looks very much like the head of a turtle. Once there, an unforgettable 50 meters of altitude (164 feet) rappel awaits you. And after that, a refreshing sea bath in clear waters.
